Our commitment

The JAINA Convention is a gathering of families, youth, elders, scholars, and guests from across North America and beyond. Guided by the Jain principles of ahimsa (non-violence), anekantavada (respect for many viewpoints), and aparigraha (non-attachment), we are committed to a welcoming, safe, and respectful experience for everyone — regardless of age, gender, background, ability, sect, or belief.

We expect everyone to

  • Treat others with kindness, patience, and respect — in words and actions.
  • Be considerate of differing traditions, viewpoints, and levels of observance.
  • Follow the instructions of organizers, volunteers, and venue staff.
  • Respect the temple, sessions, performers, speakers, and shared spaces.
  • Look out for children, elders, and anyone who may need help.
  • Care for the venue and the environment, in keeping with our values.

We do not tolerate

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind.
  • Unwelcome physical contact or attention, or threatening behavior.
  • Disruptive, abusive, or demeaning language or conduct.
  • Unauthorized photography or recording where someone objects.
  • Damage to property, or unsafe behavior that endangers others.

Health and safety

Please follow all venue safety guidance and any health measures in effect at the time of the convention. Supervise your children, and use the on-site help desk and first-aid station as needed.

Reporting a concern

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code, please tell a volunteer, an organizer, or the on-site help desk right away, or email info@jaina.org. Reports will be handled promptly and as discreetly as possible.

Enforcement

This Code applies to all attendees, volunteers, vendors, performers, speakers, and guests, at all convention venues and activities. Organizers may take any action they consider appropriate — including a warning or removal from the convention without refund — to keep everyone safe.

Above all, let us extend to one another the compassion and respect at the heart of Jain Dharma, so that every person leaves Dallas feeling they belonged.
